Midweek: God Pause
In one of his summer e-mails, Pastor Jack shared a link to a web site put out by Luther Seminary called “God Pause.” The web site offers short devotions related to the upcoming Sunday’s readings for worship. If you sign up, you can receive these devotions in your e-mail inbox, giving you the opportunity to take an extra few minutes during the day to pause and reflect on God’s Word. (If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, the web site is www.luthersem.edu/godpause/). We’ve already heard from many of you that you have signed up and now receive “God Pause,” and it is a welcome break in the midst of your day.
We liked the title so much we are borrowing it and starting a “God Pause” of our own of a different type. This one isn’t of the internet sort, but even better, will be a chance to gather and take a “God Pause” together. Starting Wednesday, September 12th and continuing every other Wednesday through November, we will be offering a “Midweek God Pause” here at the church. If you need a break to quiet your mind, rest your spirit and refresh your soul, then come and join us. “Midweek God Pause” will be a devotional time of Bible study and prayer. Before-hand preparation isn’t needed and you can come any time or any week and join in without a problem. “God Pause will take place at 12:00 noon and last until 12:45 PM (scheduled at that time so that it is available to those who have a 12:00 noon lunch break). The devotional time will end at 12:45 PM. Those who want to continue the conversation and fellowship are invited to bring a sack lunch and stay and eat lunch together at 12:45 PM.
Whatever occupies you on a daily basis, if you are looking for more time of prayer, scripture, and sharing in God’s word with others, then join us for “Midweek God Pause.” Bring your Bible and we’ll see you there!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Shelly |
