A Note from Pastor Shelly
June - Walk of Faith
We just ended another wonderful Sunday School year. The year
ended with the children making stepping stones that were put
together to make a small pathway through the courtyard in the
Sunday School wing that we are calling “Our Sunday School
Walk of Faith.” Take a look!
Sunday School truly is a big part of our walk of faith and if you
ever had a chance to walk through the Sunday School wing
from 9:45-10:45 Sunday morning, you’ve seen that walk of
faith in action. You might have seen the littlest children coloring
life size cut-outs of themselves complete with big red
hearts and learning that “Jesus is in my heart.” Or you might
have seen the first grade class on a nature walk pointing out
the good things in God’s creation. You may have seen the second
and third graders reading aloud from their Adventure Bibles.
You might have found the older elementary kids practicing
in the sanctuary so they can be added to the roster of acolytes;
confirmation students talking about sacraments, reformation,
the Apostles Creed, prayer; and adults learning more
about the Bible or how to grow as loving faithful parents.
There are so many good things that happen during the Sunday
School hour, walking from room to room, really does feel like
moving along and seeing many different stages of the walk of
faith.
And of course, that walk never ends, we are always learning,
always growing in life and in faith. So even if you’ve long outgrown
Sunday School (although there is adult Sunday School, so
you never outgrow that!), keep learning. Keep opening your
Bible. Keep coming to worship and opening your heart up to
hear God’s word in Scripture and song and sermon, keep coming
to Bible Study (or start coming!). Keep letting God grow
you and teach you. Keep letting God shape you and grow you wherever you are on your walk of faith.
Honored to be learning with you on this walk of faith!
