From the Desk of Pastor Diehl
October
While I’ve been able to extend some thanks in church and via our Church’s e-mail, I still feel like I’d like to yet one more time extend my deep appreciation and amazement at the labor Day Home Alone/30th Anniversary Picnic! What a great, fun day that was! When I heard about the plans coming together for this event I was feeling kind of self-conscious about all the fuss being made over my being here these past 30 years (my first Sunday being on Labor Day weekend 1977). But those feelings dissipated as I saw and experienced all of the fun and cooperation and celebration of the day. I knew it was about so much more than just an anniversary. We were celebrating life together here in this place with not only the fellow members of Our Savior, but with people new to our congregation, homeless people who regularly join us for our Home Alone meals, members from the Vero Beach community at large, people and pastors from other congregations and friends and family in general. Just to see how everyone here worked together to pull it off was a delight and a wonder.
An extensive list of thanks to many people was on our “post-picnic” email from church and is posted on the church bulletin board at church. (If you have e-mail and aren’t on our list, or haven’t received an e-mail lately . . . you might have been on our list, but gotten lost in the Bellsouth/ATT transition . . . please send us an email at oursaviorelca@bellsouth.net and we’ll put you on the list.) But I just wanted to make mention one more time of this great event. I am so grateful to be here at Our Savior and look forward to sharing in our journey and unfolding story together for years to come.
