From the Desk of Pastor Diehl

March

I have a confession to make. Seems appropriate to do so during Lent.  It is this: most years, I wish Lent was about 2 weeks shorter.  I like Easter better. Can't wait to get there. But this year, I'm OK with the 6 weeks of Lent, and I'll tell you why. As I write this, we've only begun the regular Wednesday Lenten services, but the conversations and the interest in sharing and hearing our faith stories has been wonderful. We all have faith stories to share, and during our Wednesday services, not only are we hearing the stories of other members of our congregation, but the questions on the back of the Wednesday bulletins generate some great thoughts and conversations all by themselves (for home, at work or during our lunches and suppers.)

What this all does is help to build our faith, and enter more deeply into what God in Christ has done and continues to do in God's broken but beloved world. As you get this newsletter we will have passed the 1/2 way point in Lent.  If you haven't been to any of the Wednesday services, or Sunday services (what a nice, familiar setting for worship we are using on these Sundays in Lent by the way) please join us and invite someone else to join you.  What we are sharing in and receiving are Words of Life itself, yes, and more, The Word of Life himself, Jesus, the crucified and risen one.

Come and see.
