Mission trip to Guyana
An Outreach to the World
July 14-23, 2010
The people of Our Savior have given generously to missionary work in Guyana for severl years. It is time to go and meet the people.
Guyana is on the northeast shoulder of South America. It borders on Venezuela and Suriname. The weather in June
is warm and humid like Florida in the summer time
Chris Klafs, the missionary appointed by the Florida Bahamas
Synod, is organizing a mission trip in July and looking
for others to go with her.
The destination for this trip is Skeldon where there is a
camp and retreat center. The general purpose of the trip
will be to be companions to the folks there. The visitors
will read to the children, do craft workshops with children,
visit families, do some repair, repainting and fix-up at the
camp. Most people have had little schooling but English (or
their version of it!) is the language. The group will be
staying at the camp center and getting to know all the
folks there.
Anyone over the age of 18 and in good health is encouraged
to go. A passport and vaccinations that are required
by the Health Department are needed. The cost is $1,200
from Tampa. Our Saviors Social Ministry Team is offering
financial help.
The trip is from July 14th -23rd. It is 10 days of making a
difference in a tiny part of our world.
