Mission trip to Guyana
An Outreach to the World
July 14-23, 2010
The people of Our Savior have given generously to missionary work in Guyana for several years. It is time to go and meet the people.
Guyana is on the northeast shoulder of South America. It borders on Venezuela and Suriname, and is the second poorest country in the Western
Hemisphere.
For the first time, our Youth Director and several college age members will be going on this 10-day mission trip to Guyana, July 14 - July 24. The Guyana Mission trip will be the first of it's kind for Our Savior. Our three youth will be going as a group with others from our Florida/
Bahamas Synod out of Tampa. The cost for this trip is $1200 per person. Our Social Ministry team has offered to match any gift up to $2000, which would just about cover the total cost for this mission trip.
For several years Our Savior’s Social Ministry
Team has organized many efforts to help the Lutheran
missionaries and churches there. Now is the time for Our
Savior to support our own group who will be traveling
there.
Jimmy Smith, Libby Anderson, and Zach Jedzinak
will be leaving July 14th for a 10 day stay at Skeldon, a
camp and retreat center. They will get to know the people
there by reading to the children, doing craft workshops,
visiting with families, and helping with small repair
jobs. They will be traveling with a larger group led
by Chris Klafs, the Florida- Bahamas Synod missionary.
Keep this group of Our Savior missionaries in your
prayers as they prepare for the trip.
