|One of my favorite times in the worship life at Our Savior happened again this past weekend, the Blessing of the Quilts. When you walked into the Sanctuary for worship you couldn’t help but feel good and smile as you looked at the handiwork of a very dedicated and talented group of people. Pastor Shelly challenged us in her sermon to think about how God’s love is like a quilt. The responses from the congregation were beautiful and diverse and from those she prayed this prayer.
Lord God, there is a wideness in your mercy, deeper than we can sometimes know and see, but today we pray for those who are on their knees. We pray that they feel your love wrapped around them providing comfort, security, peace, safety while encompassed with warmth, grace and strength. Amen.
May this be our prayer this week as we remember our brothers and sisters in the Panhandle as they recover from Hurricane Michael. May they feel God’s love wrapped around them providing strength, warmth and comfort. For more information on how to help those affected please see below.
P.S. Don’t miss out on Wednesday dinner this week at 6:00 p.m. Oktoberfest dinner with Sauerbraten, Red Cabbage, Potato Pancakes & Peach Cobbler
In response to the devastation of Hurricane Michael in our own Synod we are participating in relief drive for our brothers and sisters in the Panhandle. Conference Dean, Pastor Tom Holdcraft, and our Bishop share this message with the congregations of our Synod.
“Messiah Lutheran Church and her members have encountered significant damage as a result of Hurricane Michael. The synod office is collecting donations to relocate Interim Pastor Mary N. since she encountered destruction in her home. Donations of money or gift cards would be helpful for congregants if you are able. Please keep them in prayers during this time of recovery and healing.” Gift cards are recommended for stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Publix, etc. Those can be placed in the offering plate or the office and will be directly delivered by the staff of Our Savior.
You may also give gifts of cash directly to the Lutheran Disaster Response
