|Each year when Good Shepherd Sunday rolls around (always the fourth Sunday of Easter), my mind echo’s these comforting words from a simple children’s song I was taught growing up:
I am Jesus’ little lamb, Ever glad at heart I am;
On Good Shepherd Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, six of the youngest lambs of our congregational flock celebrated their First Communion to the great joy of their families and our congregational family. As they set the Table for the Meal, the song we sang echoed this refrain:
Sing with thankfulness songs of pure delight.
Come and reveal in heaven’s love and light.
Take your place at the table of the King.
The feast is ready to begin, the feast is ready to begin!
Of course, it is the assuring 23rd Psalm that is likely the most echoed song of all. If you don’t know it by heart, click here and pray through (or sing to your own tune) the familiar words. As you claim being a lamb of God’s own keeping, a sheep in his own fold, may comfort, joy, and assurance, echo throughout your life.
Alleluia! Christ, the Good Shepherd of us all, is Risen!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Last Wednesday 175 people shared in a Texas BBQ in support of our youth traveling this summer to the ELCA National Youth Gathering. Because of the beautiful support and generosity of so many over the past weeks, the trip is fully funded, plus our youth will take a significant offering in support of the Gathering Offering for world hunger projects through the ELCA Global Farming initiative.
New Members this weekend!
It’s never too late to become part of the family of faith at Our Savior Lutheran Church. If membership would be a blessing to you, it would certainly be a blessing to us. Call the church office today.
