|It was a privilege this past Sunday to welcome Bishop Pedro Suarez as preacher and presider, and to celebrate with him our shared love for Christ and for being church together as part of the Florida/Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The weekend’s gospel included the hopeful request of some foreigners who were visiting in Jerusalem just before Jesus’ passion. “We wish to see Jesus,” they said to the disciples. (John 12:20-26)
Whenever I hear those words, I’m reminded of the verse written for the ageless musical, Godspell:
Day by day, day by day, Oh, dear Lord three things I pray
To see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly,
follow thee more nearly, day by day.
“We wish to see Jesus!” As we move closer and closer to the week called Holy, may God open our eyes to see in Jesus the Savior of the world!
Thank you for the ways in which you show Jesus to others! Thanks also for the ways in which you share and support the ways we are church together!
Peace be with you, Pastor Mark
