He’s making a list and checking it twice
Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is comin’ to town
These lyrics from “Santa Claus in Comin’ to Town” remind us that Advent time is list making time. As we move toward Christmas, many of us are joining Santa in list making. There is the grocery store list, so we can make our favorite holiday recipes, and the list of not to be missed gatherings, Christmas concerts and worship services. Our children and grand children make a list of things they would like to find under the tree. As we grow older (and wiser as we learn it is more blessed to give than it is to receive), our most important list often names who we plan on gifting with an expression of our care, admiration, or support.
If Our Savior Lutheran Church is on your Christmas gift giving list, thank you! If you need any suggestions, perhaps you will find the below list helpful:
• A special Christmas gift to our General Fund will help us close the gap between income and expenses for the year which currently is $33,000 as of the end of November.
• Gifts to our Capital Fund are needed to replace the sanctuary roof damaged by Hurricane Irma.
• When you make a gift to help decorate our church with poinsettias during Christmas, you are gifting the General Scholarship Fund which supports the higher education of our youth. If you were to make a gift to the Trudy Schmidt Scholarship Fund, an anonymous donor has offered a matching gift of up to $10,000!
As always, Our Savior Lutheran Church is humbled and grateful for all gifts that are lovingly, graciously, and generously offered for the sake of our shared ministries!
Of course, the greatest gift comes from God. And the good news is that we are all on God’s Christmas list as he comes to be one of us to save us through the birth of Jesus. No one is excluded from his love as he comes to be “Emmanuel,” God with us!
As we wait again for the fullness of his coming, may we find joy in every gift of Christmas!
Peace,
Pastor Mark
